Fatal four-vehicle crash near Cooma closes Snowy Mountains Highway

A man has died in a fatal crash involving four vehicles, including a truck, that closed the Snowy Mountains Highway on Friday, 11 March.

NSW Police said emergency services were called to the intersection of the highway and Kosciuszko Road, which is about 5km west of Cooma, about 8:30 am.

There had been a crash involving a Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-MAX, Toyota Rav 4 and a light rigid truck.

Sadly, the 53-year-old male driver of the Rav 4 died at the scene.

The male driver of the Hilux was taken to Cooma Hospital suffering from non-life threatening injuries and underwent mandatory testing, while the drivers of the truck and D-MAX were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Snowy Mountains Highway remained closed in both directions on Friday afternoon and diversions were in place. Motorists should avoid the area and monitor Live Traffic for updates.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
