There are five new farmers looking for love in the next season of reality television show Farmer Wants a Wife, and they may have just found it in the regional village of Gundaroo, in the NSW Southern Tablelands, near Canberra.
Filming is well underway for the next season of the popular Seven Network program, and contestants and crew spent a week in Gundaroo during the last week of November.
A farm that is popular for weddings, located just outside of the village, was used to film the often dramatic country ball episode in which the farmers and female contestants dance and drink the night away.
Bushfield Farm owners Kylie and Jimmy Finn were excited to host the reality show at their property after having to postpone many of the weddings they were due to host in 2020 because of COVID-19.
“I got a phone call out of the blue [from the producers],” said Kylie. “At first, I thought someone was pulling my leg.”

The ball took place inside the venue’s romantic shearing shed. The farmers also spent time with their potential wives outside on straw bales and by a fire pit.
Bushfield Farm has already appeared in Seven Network’s new Christmas advert, which shows Farmer Wants a Wife host Natalie Gruzlewski throwing a present from Kylie and Jimmy’s dam.
Kylie was tightlipped about what the farmers got up to during the country ball, however she said all five of them were there with their chosen ladies.
She hopes their events business will receive enquiries from couples wanting to use the farm for their weddings once the episode airs.
“I think the exposure will be good,” said Kylie. “Hopefully we’ll get enquiries from couples and other television productions.”
The show also took over Gundog Estate’s cellar door, terrace and gardens in Gundaroo for the day – wine always helps with first-date nerves!
Gundog Estate owner Geoff Burton spent 50 years in film and television and was happy to welcome the crew, who liked the backdrop of the cellar door.
It’s possible the production crew came across the village while filming farmer Neil up the road in Crookwell for the 2020 season of Farmer Wants a Wife.

Seven Network is also keeping hush-hush on details about the 2021 season of Farmer Wants a Wife and its airing date, however we do know who the farmers are.
One of those is farmer Rob, a 40-year-old sheep and cattle farmer from the beautiful NSW Snowy Mountains, south of Canberra. He is hoping for a second shot at love after being previously engaged to the mother of his two children.
Closer to Cowra, in the state’s south, is 24-year-old farmer Sam. The sheep farmer from Canowindra plays polocrosse and once competed at a national level. He describes himself as a fun, loving person with a heart of gold and a great sense of humour.
Also in NSW is 30-year-old farmer Andrew from Delegate. He was dobbed into the show by his older cousin and says he’d like to be on the farm, married or engaged, with a couple of kids in five years’ time. So there’s hope for one lucky lady!
The other contestants include farmer Matt, 26, from Orbost, Victoria; farmer Will, 39, from Longwood, Victoria; and farmer Peter, 29, from Kingaroy, Queensland.
