Cooma woman charged with abuse of elderly man in care

Cooma Police have arrested a local aged care worker following the alleged assault of an elderly man.

“An 89-year-old man, who was a resident in an aged-care facility, was in his wheelchair shortly after 3:30 pm on Saturday (July 13), when he was allegedly assaulted by a 61-year-old female employee,” police report.

The matter was reported to police prompting an immediate investigation which yesterday afternoon (July 16) resulted in the arrest of a Cooma woman.

She was taken to Cooma Police Station and has been charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and five counts of assault.

She has been granted conditional bail and is due to face Cooma Local Court on August 7.
