Cooma Lions Club has provided funds to Snowy Monaro Regional Council to build an inclusive pathway through Norris Park, which will include a wheelchair friendly ramp and parking space.
The Cooma Lions Club members will dedicate their time and resources to complete the construction, which began on Monday, 18 January, with work to continue for a number of weeks.
The volunteers will work with Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s civic maintenance team to ensure that any turf removed is reused to help rejuvenate bare patches within Centennial Park. One tree will be impacted by the work, and has been assessed as suitable for relocation.

“We are very grateful to Cooma Lions Club for the work they are undertaking at Norris Park,” said Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer.
“Through their generosity, we are able to continue to ensure our public spaces are accessible to all members of our community.”
Additional grant-funded updates to the Cooma Creek shared pathway will also begin this week. Council teams will focus on improving the ramp to the Norris Park accessible toilet, and establishing a link footpath to the Lions Club funded pathway.
There will be heavy machinery and works in progress across both sites, and council has apologised to the community for any inconvenience.
