Precious items remain unclaimed at Batemans Bay Police Station including a wallet containing a large sum of money and a gold wedding ring.

The wallet was handed to police in early July, “If you think it’s yours, you will need to supply the exact description of the wallet, details of the denomination, time, date and place where the money and wallet were lost and any further information to satisfy police that you are the owner,” a spokesperson for Batemans Bay Police says.

Anyone who believes the wallet and money to be theirs should attend Batemans Bay Police Station, quote reference E72360439.

Meantime a gold wedding band believed to have been lost in mid-July and handed to police on August 6 is unclaimed.

“It was located on Domonic Drive, Batehaven. The ring may have sentimental value as it has an inscription inside the band,” the spokesperson says.

Anyone able to prove ownership is asked to contact Batemans Bay Police and quote reference E72076757.

Both lost items were advertised earlier via the South Coast Police District Facebook page, and when Region Media checked this week police still held out hopes of finding the owners.

“We have a pretty good success rate,” the spokesperson says.

“Good Samaritans are handing items in every day – mobile phones, reading glasses, keys, wallets, and we can usually track down the owner.

“If we don’t, then after a period of time, the person who found the item can in most cases have it back.

“But it’s great seeing that big response when a lost item is returned to its owner, that’s what we want to see.”

Batemans Bay Police Station is on Orient Street, phone 4472 0099.
