A 47-year-old Canberra man, whose car was stopped by police on the Kings Highway at Nelligen on the weekend, has been sentenced to a 12-month intensive correction order after being charged with a number of drug and weapon offences.
At about 3:00 pm on Saturday, 12 October, officers attached to South Coast Police District searched the man and his car. They found drugs, an electronic control device and a folding knife.
The man was arrested before being taken to Batemans Bay Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences.
Charges included supplying a prohibited drug greater than indictable less than the commercial quantity, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing a knife in a public place. The man was also charged with driving while disqualified.
The man was refused bail and appeared before Batemans Bay Local Court on Sunday. He reappeared at Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, 14 October where he was found guilty and sentenced to a 12-month intensive correction order.
