Following recent concern around Australia about the treatment of horses at the end of their career, a number of Batemans Bay residents have joined together to form an affiliate group of Animal Liberation NSW – Animal Liberation Batemans Bay.
The new group aims to be pro-active in the community in various ways such as holding street stalls, talking to the public about cruelty to animals, providing information leaflets, promoting kinder lifestyle choices and fundraising events.
“Society is beginning to wake up to the many ways animals are exploited unnecessarily and many people are choosing kindness instead, by making easy and positive changes to their lifestyle choices,” says local spokesperson Coral Anderson.
“We are here to encourage and help people to make these changes. It’s never been so easy than right now.”
Animal Liberation Batemans Bay agrees with and will assist where possible with the objectives of Animal Liberation NSW.
Animals Liberation NSW objectives:
Investigate – Animal Liberation works to expose the brutal realities of animals used for food, entertainment, fashion, science, companions, and those subjected to management or control programs. Animal Liberation is proud to fight for the rights of all species.
Educate – Education breaks down the barriers of misleading information put forward by the food, entertainment, fashion, and companion animal industries.
Liberate – Animal Liberation lobbies to all levels of government and various industries complicit in animal exploitation, in an attempt to influence legislation and permanently improve the lives of all animals.
Ms Anderson says Animal Liberation Batemans Bay’s objectives are, “to permanently improve the lives of all animals through legislation, consumer advocacy, action, and humane education. To raise public awareness initiatives to empower and inspire the community to adopt cruelty-free lifestyle choices.”
