Here’s your notice, footy fans — the Raiders are coming to the Bay.

After the success of the 2023 trial game against the Bulldogs at Ack Weyman Oval in Moruya, Eurobodalla Shire Council has invited the Canberra Raiders NRL team back to the shire.

The Green Machine will arrive tomorrow (24 February) for an open training session at the newly refurbished Mackay Park.

The ground now features modern, multi-tiered grandstands and a premium playing surface, which has been aerated, fertilised and returfed in high-traffic zones to prepare for the local 2026 season.

For the more than 1000 registered rugby league players in the Shire (and countless fans who call it home), it’s a rare opportunity to see stars of the game in their own backyard.

Eurobodalla Shire is a massive catchment area for the Raiders, with many local juniors dreaming of moving up to their Canberra academy.

It’s a dream that came true for one Narooma Devils junior, Noah Martin, who made his NRL debut with the Raiders last year.

He would go on to score two tries in his first six games and has recently signed an extension that will keep him at Canberra until the end of the 2028 season.

Shire-based fans can watch the Raiders prepare for their season during their open training session.

It will be held at Mackay Park from 10 am to noon.

There’ll be a meet-and-greet afterwards, until 2 pm, where supporters can mingle with Raiders greats, snap a few photos, renew memberships and soak up the Green Machine vibe.

Some of the shire’s own NRL alumni are also expected to attend.

Be there or be green (with envy).
