There’s a lot to get excited for in the regions this week.
The Sea Otter Festival brings a multi-day mountain bike extravaganza to the South Coast, with races, kids events and an event hub with heaps of cycling brands showing off the latest and greatest in bike kit.
A special Elton John tribute act, Rocketman On Reflection, comes to the Bay Pavilions in Batemans Bay, playing the best music from one of the best musicians ever to grace the stage.
And it’s time for the Murrumbateman Field Days with farm, livestock and machinery exhibitions as well as stalls focused on building, home improvement, lifestyle, shopping and fashion, in addition to local food and wine.

Sea Otter Australia Festival

With eight official events, races, junior races and kid-friendly races, the Sea Otter Festival is a huge extravaganza of mountain biking events across the Eurobodalla.
Racing takes place on the trails in Mogo and Narooma. The event expo, at Hanging Rock oval, will see more than 200 cycling brands showcasing the latest gear with exclusive deals and pro cyclists on-site.
This is a huge celebration of cycling with so much to see and do for all ages. So check out the website to find the best event for you this weekend.

Ladies in Black – Musical

This uplifting musical tells the story of a shy schoolgirl in Sydney in the late 50s who gets a holiday job in an upscale store, which comes to mean a lot to her when she meets the stylish women who work there, the ladies in black. With the newfound confidence she gains from knowing these worldly women, she fosters dreams of enrolling in university.
With beautiful costume designs and memorable music, this musical captures a snapshot of Australia in a period of transition, when immigration and female empowerment were changing the face of a country long mired in post-war malaise.

Big Birding Weekend – Birds of the Snowy Monaro

The Big Birding Weekend is just what it sounds like, a huge celebration of local avian wildlife in the Snowy Monaro, with a whole bunch of events for birdwatchers, both amateur and pro, to get excited for.
There will be birdwatching walks with expert tips on how to identify birds, as well as info on ecology and behaviour, in addition to workshops to learn how to use Birdata and iNaturalist to use your phone to identify birds.
There will also be author talks from bird experts who will speak about the works they’ve penned regarding birds in the local area and even giveaways of native shrubs so you can get started on your journey helping local wildlife.

Rocketman – On Reflection Tour 2025

Performer Greg Andrew embodies the great Elton John like no-one else, with a faithful and skilful recreation of the talent of one of the most memorable performers of our age.
Andrew has performed at the world’s largest tribute music festival, TRIBFEST, and he has built up a reputation with a rich touring history all over the world, bringing the music of Elton John to more than half a million people in more than 30 countries.
Andrew and his seven-piece band will perform the best of Elton John across two hours, with songs such as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Bennie And The Jets, Candle In The Wind, Philadelphia Freedom, Daniel and I’m Still Standing.

The Murrumbateman Field Days is Yass Valley’s premier family farming event. Located just on the doorstep of Canberra, this ‘big farming day out’ welcomes thousands of farmers and families from across the region.
There is an exciting program of family entertainment all weekend and a huge range of exhibitors with something for everyone, from farm, livestock and machinery to building, home improvement, lifestyle, shopping and fashion to local food and wine with everything in between.

Head to Tarago for the annual Car, Bike & Truck Show, where visitors get up close and personal with some beautiful historic cars.
A big day for revheads, there will be plenty to look at and visitors get to chat with the proud owners about their cars. There will also be plenty of prizes to give out for best in show, people’s choice, best truck, best 4WD and more. Don’t miss out.

Greg Byng Live at the Steampacket

Local artist Greg Byng is a solo performer out of Long Beach and he regularly performs his material all across the coast.
This Sunday, he will be showcasing the broad range of his musical talent, with tunes from the 70s up to now, playing music from bands like the Eagles, John Cougar and Eddie and the Cruisers, as well as plenty of original songs.

The Southern Concert – Dorinda & Olimpia

The Southern Concert is presenting an afternoon of Italian Baroque music, with two cantatas by Alessandro Scarlatti and Giovanni Bononcini, alongside instrumental works by Alessandro Scarlatti and Evaristo dall’Abaco.
Played by theorbo player Shaun Ng, violinists Stephen Freeman and Lauren Davis, violist Odette Bruinzeel and cellist Clara Teniswood, with soprano Greta Claringbould, this will be a special performance from talented local artists using period instruments.

The Goulburn Mulwaree Library is hosting Garry Disher for a special author talk this Thursday.
Come hear insights from a full-time writer who has published an astonishing 60 titles across numerous genres and is gaining an international reputation for his crime novels. He will be discussing the fifth book in his Hirsch series, entitled Mischance Creek. Drinks, snacks, book sales and book signings are available on the day.
Most notably, he has been nominated for the Booker Prize for his novel The Sunken Road.
