Police investigation underway after man’s body found in Bega

An investigation is underway after the body of a man was found in Bega on the Far South Coast overnight.

About 2 am today (Monday 6 October 2025), emergency services were called to East Street, Bega, following reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and found the body of a man in a park.

He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 40s.

Police have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into circumstances surrounding the incident, with assistance from detectives attached to the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Investigations are ongoing.
