22-year-old man dies in accident at Snowy Mountains ski resort

A young man has died in a snowboarding accident at a Snowy Mountains resort.

In a statement, Perisher Ski Resort said its Ski Patrol, NSW Ambulance and NSW Police were called to a part of its Front Valley Terrain Park with advanced terrain after a snowboarding incident on Tuesday (12 August).

Paramedics treated a 22-year-old man at about 2:30 pm, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perisher’s vice president and general manager Nathan Butterworth extended condolences.

“Perisher Ski Resort, Ski Patrol, and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends,” he said.

Perisher is the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere and is located in the Kosciuszko National Park.

According to peak body Snow Resorts Australia, the resort has 3000 acres of skiable terrain across four resort areas.
