A man has died and another was airlifted to Canberra after a car struck a tree.
Emergency services were called to Mount Darragh Road, Mount Darragh (about 50 km west of Merimbula) at about 10:30 am today (21 July), following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services found a car had left the roadway, gone down an embankment and struck a tree.
The front-seat passenger couldn’t be revived by emergency services and died at the scene.
A man believed to be the driver was treated at Bega Hospital for suspected internal injuries. He has since been airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
Police say both men are believed to be in their twenties.

According to Live Traffic NSW, Mount Darragh Road is closed in both directions as of 4 pm.
Police recommend using the Snowy Mountains Highway and Imlay Road.
Live Traffic NSW also recommends that motorists delay their journey and avoid the area, if possible.
Officers attached to the South Coast Police District established a crime scene and started an investigation, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Police have asked that anyone with dashcam footage or information contact Bega Police by calling 02 6492 9999, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Drivers are also advised to monitor Live Traffic for updates on road closures.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
