Slow Hope – Greta Cooper – Art Exhibition
When: 16 to 17 May and 22 May, 10 am to 3 pm
Where: Mechanics Institute, 13 Page Street, Moruya
Cost: Free.
Slow Hope is an art installation and audio tour by Greta Cooper exploring the grief, both emotional and ecological, of the 2019/2020 Black Summer bushfires. Viewers are invited to listen to recordings of a spoken narrative focused on memories of the artist’s experience in Moruya at the time of the fires.
The story is linked to a specific installation and physical place that encourages quiet reflection on the disaster. It’s a powerful way to think about and reflect on one of the most impactful natural disasters in living memory.

Jane Caro Author Talk

Walkley-winning columnist, author, activist and feminist Jane Caro will give a talk on her book Lyrebird, a cold-case thriller about a uni professor and a detective teaming up to solve a two-decade-old murder. At the heart of the investigation is a recording made by a student of a lyrebird that seems to mimic the screams of the victim.
Caro has published 12 books and is a frequent TV guest on Q&A, The Drum and Sunrise. She has also created and presented five documentaries for ABC’s Compass.
The Goulburn visit includes drinks, nibbles and an author signing.

Honest Puck presents According to Mark

This dramatised recitation of the Gospel of Mark recounts the life and acts of Jesus of Nazareth. Created upon the premise that many do not know the full story of the life of Jesus, this 1.5-hour show tells the extraordinary account of history’s most enduring figure, from his emergence in Nazareth to the preaching at the synagogues and the healing of the sick.
Experience the Gospel of Mark within St Saviour’s Cathedral, one of Goulburn’s most spectacular buildings and houses of worship.

Batlow CiderFest

With food from around the world, live music, circus performances, stalls, cider tasting, beer, wine and spirits, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better way to spend a Saturday than the Batlow CiderFest. A celebration of local producers, and of course the fantastical things they make, CiderFest is a full day of fun with plenty to see, taste and listen to.

Computers 4 Community – Workshop

Where: RfR Community Solar Reuse Centre, inside the Moruya Transfer Station

The Repurposing for Resilience team is putting together a workshop aimed at bridging the digital divide.
This workshop gives new life to old computers, monitors and laptops that were destined for the tip, by refurbishing them and gifting them to a local non-profit organisation as well as workshop participants.
The C4C initiative is about keeping the community connected, providing free access to hands-on practical training in computers and resources, while simultaneously reducing the impact of waste.

To celebrate the coming of winter, the Snowy Mountains’ time to shine, the Jindabyne Snow Ball returns for a night of entertainment, elegance, eating and drinking. With an alpine backdrop to set the scene, this event brings visitors and locals together for gourmet dining and a night of community fun.

Celebrate each era of Pink Floyd’s historic contribution to music with Adelaide-based tribute band Echoes of Pink Floyd as they take audiences on a journey through 60 years of their musical legacy.
Covering everything from progressive rock to psychedelic masterpieces and big-sound anthems, this show captures and recreates the essence and energy of one of the most iconic musical projects of the past century.
Echoes of Pink Floyd have been paying tribute to the original band since 2009 and have been touring their act nationally since 2014, captivating audiences nationwide.

Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and the Zen of Motorcycling

A Narooma Motorcycles initiative, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is an event that celebrates the importance of men’s health and raises awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer. It also raises funds for research and men’s mental health programs.
Narooma’s DGR is one of more than 900 around the world to be held on Sunday, 18 May to raise funds to be invested by the official charity partner, Movember, for both local and global research and men’s mental health programs.
Those entering are encouraged to wear their finest dapper attire so they look stylish while they ride.
