Police officer pleads not guilty to allegedly assaulting teens, woman

The lawyers for a police officer accused of assaulting several teenagers and one woman over two alleged incidents in Batemans Bay have entered pleas of not guilty to all charges.

Senior Constable Brett David Lindsay, a 37-year-old from the Eurobodalla, was suspended with pay after he was issued his first charges over the allegations against him in September.

NSW Police have previously said that police arrived at an incident at a Batemans Bay shopping centre on 29 October 2023.

It is alleged that during the incident, Mr Lindsay, who was on duty at the time, assaulted two 13-year-old girls, one 17-year-old girl and a 49-year-old woman.

It is also alleged he assaulted two 17-year-olds in Batemans Bay when he was on duty on 31 October 2023.

Police said while both of these teenagers were arrested, they were then released without charge.

Mr Lindsay was ultimately issued a total of six counts of common assault over both alleged incidents before the matter was heard in the Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday (25 November).

His lawyers entered pleas of not guilty to all charges and the matter was adjourned to 13 January.
