Basil Sellers Art Prize 2022

When: Tuesday, 1 November, to Sunday, 20 November, 10 am to 4 pm
Where: Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, corner Vulcan and Campbell Streets, Moruya
How much: Free entry.

It’s been running for 10 years, and now the Basil Sellers Art Prize is announcing its 2022 winner.

The nationwide competition this year had a major prize of $25,000. The ‘Eurobodalla Award’ of $5000 will continue to support local artists, and the ‘People’s Choice’ winner will receive $500. The major prizewinning artwork will be given the chance to be placed in an extensive private art collection.

The Eurobodalla Award is supported by Eurobodalla Shire Council and will be acquired and added to the council’s permanent art collection. Additionally, the Eurobodalla Award winner will have the opportunity for a solo exhibition in the BAS in 2023.

Sip and Paint – Birds of Paradise

When: Friday 4 November, 6 – 9 pm

Come along and explore your creativity while having some fun in Batemans Bay this Friday with local artist, Jessie Thompson.

Jessie will guide you through a fun, relaxed evening of painting in an exclusive workshop. This is a unique social evening of creativity, open to people of all abilities. Must be 18+.

All art materials will be provided and you get to keep the canvas at the end of the class.

Girls Day Out at the Races

When: Saturday, 5 November, 11 am to 6 pm
Where: Goulburn Race Club, Racecourse Drive, Goulburn

Get the girls and get ready for Goulburn’s biggest spring carnival event.

Girls Day Out is a unique way to spend time with your friends, dress up in fancy frocks, pull out the fascinators, sip on some bubbles and watch horse races.

The Sydney Hotshots Live at Walsh’s Hotel

Inventi Ensemble- Enchanted Forest

The Inventi Ensemble are returning to Narooma with a fabulous program titled ‘Enchanted Forest’.

It features Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Melody Eötvös’ Baron in the Trees, and Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, arranged for seven players by Glynn Davies.

Motorfest 2022

When: Saturday 5 November, 9 am to 3 pm
Where: Cooma Showgrounds, Boundary Street, Cooma.
How much: Free entry.

This weekend, car enthusiasts across the Snowy-Monaro region and beyond are invited to the Cooma Showgrounds to see almost 500 vehicles of all ages and types prepare to gather for the 2022 edition of Motorfest.

Everything from vintage classics and hot rods through to the latest performance cars and electric vehicles will be on display with trucks, tractors, boats, bikes and other machinery at the Cooma Showgrounds.

Beatle Magic

Whitenoise Pro Audio and the Goulburn Club present Beatle Magic on Saturday, 5 November, 2022.

For more than 14 years, Beatle Magic have been declared as Australia’s most authentic-sounding Beatles tribute show ever to hit our shores. This Sydney-based show has had a massive reaction worldwide.

In 2017, Beatle Magic were nominated for the prestigious Australian Variety Artists MO Awards in the ‘Best Tribute Artist/Show’ category and then for an ACE award in 2019. All Beatles fans young and old, if you missed out on seeing the Beatles live, look no further as you will not hear anything closer to the real thing than the Beatle Magic experience. The response to this show has been overwhelming.

The Wizard of OZ

When: Tuesday, 8 November, 12 pm and 6:30 pm
Where: Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre, Burns Way (off Tarcutta St), Wagga Wagga

Follow the yellow brick road this November and join Dorothy and Toto on a journey to find the Wizard of Oz in the Emerald City.

After being stuck in a cyclone, they must escape, as Dorothy realises there’s no place like home. Be prepared, though, as there’ll be lions and tigers and bears. Oh my!

This musical adaptation of the classic film The Wizard of Oz will be performed by students of Sacred Heart Kooringal Primary.

Queen Forever

When: Thursday, 10 November, 8 – 10 pm
Where: Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, 168 Auburn Street

The essence of Queen is captured perfectly by Queen Forever, fronted by a stunning portrayal of Freddie Mercury by the popular Gareth Hill.

Combined with Brian May’s unique guitar solos performed superbly by Scott Bastian, rich-sounding rock harmonies and authentic costumes, this highly entertaining stage show with state-of-the-art sound and lighting production promises to blow you away.

Queen Forever, who were established in Melbourne in 2006, will perform Queen’s biggest hits: Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Radio GaGa, We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, You’re My Best Friend, Another One Bites the Dust, Fat Bottomed Girls, Don’t Stop Me Now, Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, and of course, Bohemian Rhapsody.

This event claims to be the closest you’ll get to Queen, and will include a two-course meal before the show.
