Fallen tree causes New Year's Eve traffic delays on Brown Mountain

A tree has fallen onto the road at Brown Mountain, delaying motorists travelling to and from the area on New Year’s Eve.

Live Traffic NSW says the tree came down across the Snowy Mountains Highway, near Rutherford Creek Road, around 12:30 pm on Friday (31 December).

At about 2 pm, a Transport for NSW spokesperson said a crew was at the scene and one lane had been reopened to traffic, so the highway was not closed.

They were unsure when both lanes would be reopened.

Travellers should expect delays and should exercise caution when driving over the mountain.
