Building the quintessential Aussie dream home on a big block with room for the kids to play and the dog to run around may seem out of reach, but a new village at Yass will soon provide that opportunity for around 500 families.
Land in the first stage of Hamilton Rise, a new community at the northern gateway to Yass, is set to be released before Christmas, with construction to commence in early 2022.
With Canberra property prices going through the roof, local Yass businessman and Hamilton Rise developer Michael Agnew says their new village will give young people an opportunity to get into the market.
“One of our biggest driving forces was being able to offer affordable blocks of land to young people. Blocks of land that are still close to Canberra and, really importantly, blocks of land with room to move,” he said.
“I’ve got six kids, and it’s nearly impossible for young people to get into the Canberra market – the cost of land there is simply out of reach for many.”
Hamilton Rise, Mr Agnew says, will provide an opportunity for young families to buy a good-sized “piece of Australia” with plenty of room to grow.
The Hamilton Rise Masterplan is for approximately 500 dwellings in total, with current development approval for 179 blocks across the first six stages.
The village will feature tree-lined streets and a park with play equipment and a local facilities precinct.
Mr Agnew, who currently operates Agnew Building Supplies, has been invested in the Yass Valley region for some time.
Not only is he a resident of the region, but he also operated FAW building supplies in Yass until 2012 and recently purchased Yass Valley Hire.
As a proud local with a passion for Yass, its economic growth and all things property related, he says in designing the estate, it was important to provide an attractive entrance to Yass, with gardens, fencing and established trees.
He said Hamilton Rise draws on everything good about the country Yass lifestyle – the local community, the wide-open spaces and country air.
“And it’s all so close to Canberra City, particularly with the new Barton Highway duplication under construction,” Mr Agnew added.
“Hamilton Rise will offer a really great option for families, with a choice of schools, the district hospital, local cafes and shopping all just minutes away.”
Block sizes range from 620 square metres up to 1100 square metres, focusing on expansive living, big houses and big backyards for families to spread their wings.
