This week’s dramatic drop in COVID-19 numbers across southern NSW has continued, with just two new cases reported to 8 pm last night.
One new case is in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region and is linked to a known case, the other is in the Goulburn-Mulwaree region and is currently being investigated.
This takes the total number of cases in the Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) to 393 since the start of the current outbreak in June.
However, SNSWLHD has been notified of new venues of concern associated with COVID-19 cases. Anyone who visited one of these venues at the times listed is a casual contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
One venue is in Eden on the Far South Coast and the others are in Goulburn.
The venues are:
- Eden Post Office, Wednesday 6 October, 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm;
- Goulburn Centrelink, Monday 11 October, 11:30 am to 12:15 pm;
- Goulburn Square, Monday 11 October, 12 pm to 1:45 pm;
- Goulburn Kmart, Monday 11 October, 12:20 pm to 1:40 pm;
- Goulburn Cotton On, Monday 11 October, 1:10 pm to 1:45 pm.
There have been eight new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to 8 pm yesterday.
Six cases are residents of the Albury LGA. Three are household contacts of a previously confirmed case and three remain under investigation.
One case is a resident of the Greater Hume LGA and one is a resident of Murray River LGA. Both remain under investigation.
The NSW Government has lifted its ban on travel from the ACT, opening the border to visitors from Canberra from Friday 15 October.
However, the move comes with a catch – any Canberrans visiting NSW regions outside of the 27 postcode border bubble will have to quarantine when returning to the capital.
ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said his government was still considering the NSW changes and refused to put a timeline on when the ACT would fully open the border to NSW.
Anyone from NSW wanting to travel to Canberra must still seek an exemption unless they are from the border bubble areas and will have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.
NSW has reported 399 local cases and four deaths in the past 24 hours.
Almost 78 per cent of its 16-plus population is double-vaccinated. There are 677 people in hospital with COVID and 145 in ICU.
