Following heavy rains in the upper catchment and surrounding districts, minor flooding is occurring along the Deua River at Wamban west of Moruya. Araluen Road at the Kiora Bridge is now closed with floodwaters over the bridge.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast further moderate to heavy rain for Sunday into Tuesday. The situation is being closely monitored.
The Deua River at Wamban peaked at 4.60 metres around midnight Saturday into Sunday at minor flood levels. The river is currently near its second peak of 5.70 metres.
The next warning will be issued by 3:00 pm on Sunday (21 March).
Eurobodalla Shire Council has advised that Araluen Road at Kiora Bridge, west of Moruya, is now closed due to flooding. Clouts Road at the causeway, North Moruya is also closed. Congo Road north is flooded and residents are advised to use the sealed road, Congo Road south, via Bingie Road and the highway.
West of Bodalla, Comerang Forest Road at Silo Farm Bridge, and Nerrigundah Mountain Road at Tyrone Bridge, at Eurobodalla, are also closed.
All sporting grounds in the shire have been closed by the Eurobodalla Shire Council.
A strong high-pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is expected to remain almost stationary for the next few days, bringing an east to northeasterly flow across New South Wales coastal waters. This pattern is expected to remain relatively unchanged until the next trough brings a westerly change mid-week.
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating and swimming along the Illawarra Coast, Batemans Coast and Eden Coast.
Marine weather warnings are in place with winds east to northeasterly 15 to 25 knots. Seas are 1.5 to 2.5 metres with a northeasterly swell of around 3 metres.
