NSW Police have arrested and charged a woman after an extensive investigation which began in September 2019 into the alleged misappropriation of almost $4,000 raised through school fundraising events. Investigators executed a search warrant at the woman’s home, seizing documentation and computer equipment for examination.
It is alleged that between June 2015 and September 2019 the woman used her position as a volunteer to fraudulently obtain almost $4,000 from fundraising events at a small rural school.
Hume Police District began an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds in September 2019. The 50-year-old woman was arrested at a home in Goulburn yesterday and taken to Goulburn Police Station where she was charged with seven counts of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception, six counts of dealing with identity information to commit indictable offences, and five counts of publishing false material to obtain a financial advantage.
Further allegations against the women include applying for several credit cards using the personal details of a woman that was known to her.
She was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (24 June).
Inquiries are continuing.
