A long-running police operation in the Goulburn area came to a head with a series of dawn raids this morning (14 April, 2021).
Southern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) police swooped on four homes in Goulburn, arresting four people as part of investigations into an alleged drug supply operation.
Strike Force Koombahla was established by the Monaro RES in September 2020 to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Goulburn area.
Following extensive investigations, strike force officers, with the assistance of the Dog Unit and Hume Police District, arrested two men and two women over their alleged involvement in the supply of the drug ‘ice’ and other prohibited drugs throughout the region.
Police have now laid more than 80 charges as a result of the raids.
The two men (aged 32 and 54) and two women (aged 22 and 52) were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.
They have been charged as follows:
- The 22-year-old woman was charged with supply prohibited drug (x6), possess prohibited drug, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.
- The 52-year-old woman was charged with supply prohibited drug (x10), supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, possess prohibited drug (x2), and deal with property proceeds of crime.
- The 32-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug (x59), supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis (x2), and possess prohibited drug (x2).
- The 54-year-old man was charged with sell ice pipe, and supply prohibited drug (x3).
During the searches, which began shortly after 6:00 am, officers allegedly located and seized cannabis, methylamphetamine, prescription medication, weapons, cash and electronic devices. These items will undergo forensic examination.
The two women and the younger man were refused bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court. The older man is expected to face the same court at a later date.
Investigations are continuing.
