Do you want to enjoy a stellar day of mountain biking with your fellow enthusiastic riders from your community?

Well, while 70 km in the eastern section of Mogo Trails already opened for riders in August, a community ride day is now planned for the tracks later this month.

The Mogo Trails Community Ride Day will be on 20 October and will allow riders to now explore 80 km of the trails.

“This event offers the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty of the trails with experienced local guides,” Eurobodalla Shire Council says.

The Batemans Bay Mountain Bike Club will host guided tours on the trails from 10 am to 1:30 pm, starting at the trailhead in the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden.

A barbecue fundraiser will be available to feed riders and raise money for the bike club, while local bike shops will also offer test rides of demo bikes.

The bike club’s president, Jamie Clout, said club members who knew the trails well would show everyone around on three different loops.

“It will be a great day for local and visiting mountain bike riders to come and meet other riders and check out the trails if they haven’t had the chance yet,” he said.

The 130 km Mogo Trails are expected to be fully completed by early 2025.

Riders can choose from three different loops depending on their skill level.

  • Cruise – green trails only, ideal for families with young children or those seeking a relaxed ride
  • Adventure – a mix of green and blue trails offering a bit more excitement for those with some experience
  • Challenge – big hills and black trails designed for those looking for a more demanding ride.

Mr Clout said group rides were the go.

“It’ll be awesome to get a party line down the trails – sitting right behind, chasing each other, is part of the fun,” he said.

Attendees must bring their own bike, helmet and safety gear.

Register to join the ride before 4 pm next Wednesday (16 October). Spaces are limited. Register on the council’s website by clicking here.

Funded by $8 million from the State and Federal governments, the trails are being developed by Eurobodalla Council, while Rocky Trails manages the build, assisted by work crews from Next Level MTB.

The plan is for the eastern trails to span around 90 km and they are being uploaded to trail map database Trailforks.

The total 130 km of the Mogo Trails are expected to be completed by early 2025.

Meanwhile, it has already been announced that the Eurobodalla will host the first mountain bike event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere when Sea Otter Australia brings racing and riding events, a tradeshow, business summit and live entertainment to Mogo in October 2025.
