Three charged over alleged drug supply in Young and Grenfell

Police have charged two men and a woman following ongoing investigations into the alleged supply of illicit drugs in Young and Grenfell, in southern NSW.

In February 2021, investigators attached to Hume Police District established Strike Force Mariam to investigate the alleged distribution of methylamphetamine (ice) and cannabis in the Young and Grenfell areas.

Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force Miriam detectives executed three search warrants at two homes in Young and Grenfell, as well as at a rural property near Grenfell, on Wednesday, 12 May, 2021.

During the searches, investigators seized cannabis, drug paraphernalia, a pistol, a baton, an electronic stun device, electronic devices, fireworks and cash.

Officers also located a port-a-loo, allegedly stolen during a break and enter on the Barton Highway in March 2021.

The three people were arrested and taken to Young Police Station.

The 49-year-old Grenfell woman was charged with more than 180 offences for supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, deal with proceeds of crime, organise/conduct drug premises, and participate in criminal group.

The 28-year-old man from Young was charged with 18 counts of supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, participate in criminal group, and deal with proceeds of crime.

They were refused bail and appeared in Cowra Local Court on Thursday, 13 May.

The 25-year-old Grenfell man was charged with 31 offences, including 27 counts of supply prohibited drug, two counts of deal in proceeds of crime, possess prohibited drug, and possess prohibited weapon.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Young Local Court on Wednesday, 16 June, 2021.

Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.
