In the lull between two long weekends, you’d think that things would be pretty quiet, but there’s heaps going on in the regions – plays, live music, art shows, festivals and more. Check out where it’s at in the next few days, from Tanja to Queanbeyan, Goulburn, Tuross, and everywhere in between. No matter your interest, there’s something here to keep you busy.

Sweet Charity follows the adventures of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopeful dance hall hostess looking for love and a better life. Despite disappointments in her romantic endeavours, Charity remains resilient and continues to search for her happily ever after. Sweet Charity touches on themes of self-discovery, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams.
With a score by Cy Coleman, book by Neil Simon, and original choreography by Bob Fosse, Charity’s adventurous journey towards love is marked by some of the best-loved songs (If My Friends Could See Me Now, There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This) and most iconic dance numbers (Big Spender, Rich Man’s Frug, Rhythm of Life) in Broadway history.

Tomorrow – Art Exhibition by Hannah Gason

Hannah Gason’s Tomorrow explores light and how it can articulate and create the illusion of space. By using what may seem like simple shifts in light and shapes, Hannah creates the illusion of depth or flatness, especially in relation to how light and architecture interact. Through glass panels, lightworks and installations, she creates a dialogue between light and object.

Falling Leaf Festival Tumut

Tumut’s annual Falling Leaf Festival has been celebrated for 71 years, so while the days get shorter and the nights get chillier, community spirit is warmer than ever. There’s a packed schedule of events to keep you and your family busy over the long weekend – comedy workshops, weaving classes, live music, theatre, fun runs, kids’ entertainment, sausage sizzles, the main parade and more.

Anzac Day Commemorations – Goulburn
When: 25 April, 5:30 am to noon
Where: Belmore Park, 173 Auburn Street, Goulburn
Cost: Free.
Throughout the Goulburn Mulwaree region, there will be a series of Anzac Day services to commemorate Australia’s most important day of remembrance. The dawn service will begin at the Belmore Park Honour Roll at 5:30 am, then a memorial service will follow at 6:15 am, continuing to breakfast at the Goulburn Soldiers Club and then a march at 11 am.
In addition, there will be services in Bungonia, Tallong, Tarago and Marulan to ensure that locals from all across the area can mourn and remember together.

That Darn Sock – a unique tribute to diggers
When: 25 April, on display from 2 pm
Where: Yass Soldiers’ Memorial Hall
Cost: Free.
A unique 35-metre-long sock, made by relatives, friends and strangers of Yass district soldiers who fought in The Great War, will go on display this Anzac Day.
Known as That Darn Sock, the piece was the brainchild of life member of the Yass and District Historical Society, Dr Richard Reid.
With 100 names on the World War I roll of honour in the Yass and District Soldiers’ Memorial Hall, Dr Reid suggested, in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of the armistice of the Great War in 1998, that members of the public knit a “foot” length (12 inches) of sock for each of those named.
It is going on display again to commemorate 110 years since the momentous day.

Live and Loud at the One-ee featuring Drive Time

Where: One Tree Inn, Evans Road, Tuross Head
Cost: Free.
Drive Time is an experienced blues and rock band of four musicians who seek to please and they’re coming to the One Tree Inn for a full night of live music. They’ll provide the tunes and the energy and the One Tree will provide the atmosphere, the drinks and the food.
Live and Loud brings South Coast rock to the forefront, giving local bands a chance to rock out and play for their local community.

Snowy Mountain Folk

The Snowy Mountain Folk jam gives local musicians, both established and aspiring, a chance to play and learn with each other, sharpening their skills and artistic abilities in bluegrass, folk and country.
Artists will get together, play with each other and for each other in a relaxed, no-pressure environment meant for singers, instrumentalists and writers.

This Sunday she comes to Tanja to perform her new album, “Wanderer”, telling the story of her life since she took a hiatus in 2016 to start a family.
