Easter is almost here and the regions are packed with events over the long weekend to keep you and your family busy. From live music to art shows, sculptures, wildlife tours and more, we’ve found something for you to get up to over the next week.

The Window – The Goulburn Regional Art Gallery
When: 18 to 24 April, during normal gallery hours, closed Sunday
Where: Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, Civic Centre, 184 Bourke Street, Goulburn
Cost: Free.
The Window, an abstract and surrealist exhibition by artist Jonathon Throsby, depicts a broad range of subjects using elaborate brushstrokes and dynamic swathes of oil paint to create strange scenes that still evoke the essence of what is being painted, whether the subject be beach scenes or inexplicable figures. His works are held in the National Gallery and are much praised in the NSW art scene.

Art Exhibition – Our Home by Alex Lynn
When: 18 and 19 April, and 23 and 24 April
Where: Rusten House Art Centre, 87 Collett Street, Queanbeyan
Cost: Free.
Working with oil paint, artist Alex Lynn captures the beauty in everyday movements through a focus on light, atmosphere and serenity. He describes his artistic process as slow and methodical, with a soft approach to light and colour that does away with sharp, segregating lines for an almost dreamlike aesthetic. His works have a silent feeling of contemplation and stillness that reaches out through the canvas.

Four Winds has taken an unconventional approach to programming its music festival this Easter.
Pianist Andrea Lam has curated five thematically linked concerts for a one-off ensemble of a small number of highly talented musicians.
The pavilion will play host to the work of Bach through to compositions created this year, representing the gamut of classical and contemporary music.

Lake Light Sculpture 2025

Cost: Free.
Jindabyne’s much anticipated and beloved Lake Light Sculpture festival is almost here. The event transforms the lake’s beautiful foreshore into an open-air gallery, inviting locals and visitors alike to enjoy the amazing variety of artwork on display and of course there is no better setting than the stunning vistas provided by Lake Jindabyne.

The inaugural Nelligen Folk Festival kicks off on Saturday 18 April, running through to Sunday 20 April.
It’s live and free, showcasing some of the amazing talent from the National Folk Festival, including Craig Woodward, Alice Hurwood and Euan Hart.
Enjoy great atmosphere, delicious food and crisp beers whilst you relax to some great tunes at the Steampacket Hotel in Nelligen.
There’s also a courtesy bus from the Steampacket running from Broulee to Long Beach.

Free Live Music at the Tilba Valley Winery and Ale House
When: 19 and 20 April, 11 am to 5 pm
Where: Tilba Valley Winery & Ale House, 947 Old Hwy, Corunna
Cost: Free.
This Saturday and Sunday the Tilba Valley Winery and Ale House hosts free live music, providing the perfect setting to relax and unwind on Corunna Lake, with the beautiful backdrop of the vineyard and mountains in the distance as you enjoy the long weekend listening to some great local tunes.

From the Forest: Walk and lab session
When: 20 April, 10 am to noon
Where: Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden, Deep Creek Dam Road, Batemans Bay
Cost: Free.
Join other mycologists at the Eurobodalla Botanic Gardens for a guided walk and lab session to explore the amazing world of fungi and lichen. Visitors to the garden will get the chance to observe unique species such as rustgills and pixie cups while learning about their role in the environment, as well as the other 130 species that call the gardens home. Curious kids or enthusiast adults with a love of the small and unheralded parts of the natural world will love this unique event.

Talking Butterflies with Dr Suzi Bond & John Betts Award Presentation

Where: Murrumbateman Pub, Murrumbateman Country Inn, Corner of Hercules Street and Barton Highway
Cost: Free.
Hosted by Murrumbateman Landcare and the Yass Area Network of Landcare Groups (YAN), this award presentation is followed by a fascinating talk by Dr Suzi Bond about a neglected yet important part of our ecology.
The talk will focus specifically on local species, the roles that they play, what threats they face and ways that citizen scientists can help conserve a vital part of the local ecosystem, as butterflies do more than just look pretty, they also help pollinate and propagate plant life.
