Police have charged a teenage boy over an assault that left an Eden boy with a broken leg and face injuries.
About 5:30 pm on Thursday 13 August, a boy and girl, both aged 16, were walking along a dirt track at the intersection of Maling and Curalo streets, Eden, when they were approached by a group of teenage boys.
Police will allege the group began attacking the 16-year-old boy, punching and kicking him on the ground, before fleeing the scene on foot.
The boy suffered a broken leg and serious face injuries and was treated on scene before being taken to South East Regional Hospital. The girl was uninjured.
Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene and detectives commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, police attended a house on Moorhead Street, Eden, about 10:50 pm on 13 August 2020 and arrested a 17-year-old boy.
He was taken to Eden Police Station, where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm – in company.
The boy was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at a children’s court on 9 September.
The teenagers are known to each other.
