The popular family-friendly and wellbeing event ReBoot in Bermagui is finally returning next month.
It is the seventh time it will be held and this year it will be all about “rebooting” into summer after getting through the tough COVID-19 lockdowns.
“We’re pretty excited, we really pushed ahead with this. We cancelled it last year and we didn’t want to do that again,” committee spokesperson Julie Rutherford said.
“We also thought our event was so suited to a post-COVID world because it’s outside in the fresh air and sunshine.
“People, I think, are craving an event as well.”
Ms Rutherford said local residents hadn’t had the chance to get together for a long time, with the 2019-2020 bushfires then the COVID pandemic, but being able to come together was important for people’s wellbeing.
“We want it to be a fun, stress-free day. It’s really about just having a go and giving people an opportunity to do an activity,” she said.
Kicking off the weekend on Saturday 4 December, there will be three professionally-timed fun runs from about 9 am, including the 7.5 km Camel to Club with 1.5 km of beach running, the 5km no hills and a 1.5 km run just for kids.
Once the fun runs are done, the Tug-O-War will be staged which has cash prizes for winners and vouchers for place getters.
Other activities include yoga, Pilates, stand-up paddle boarding, surf lessons, barefoot bowls, tennis, a kids scoot and skate competition, a visit by Oops the Clown and more.
Many of Bermagui’s businesses are offering Reboot specials and entertainment so the crowds can be active in the mornings and unwind in the evenings.
ReBoot continues on Sunday 5 December at the Bermagui Surf Club on Horseshoe Bay. It starts with a new event – the escorted bike ride to Cobargo and back, which is a scenic route through the beautiful hinterland of Cobargo at 6:30 am.
Then there are two ocean swims from 9 am, a short 350 metre swim across the bay and a longer swim, run, swim.
A healthy breakfast will be served from 8 am and is free to those who have registered for the fun runs, swims and bike ride.
Following the swim, the champion ReBoot male and female will be awarded the prestigious ReBooter and ReBootie awards which includes trophies and cash prizes.
On Sunday afternoon, those keen on some golf can head to the Bermagui Country Club for the 9 hole ReBoot mixed Ambrose golf competition.
