A crime scene has been established on Noorooma Crescent at Narooma where a women’s clothing store, 4HER, and hair salon, The Hair Room, were destroyed by fire.
According to NSW Police, emergency services were alerted to a building fire on Noorooma Crescent at about 7:45 pm last night (20 September).
The buildings were well alight by the time emergency services arrived. Narooma Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire; however, the buildings were destroyed.
Adjacent businesses including Mitre 10, LJ Hooker and IMB Bank suffered smoke and water damage, Narooma Fire and Rescue Captain Scott Dawson said.
He said it was the first fire of its kind in about 20 years in Narooma.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire or where the fire started are not yet known. Police say the crime scene will be forensically examined.
Both businesses shared the news with their customers on Facebook on Monday.
“It’s with a heavy heart this morning that we inform you all that our beautiful salon has burnt down. At this time, we are all just trying to get our heads around it and will do our best to keep you updated,” The Hair Room wrote.
The owner of 4Her posted: “I’m absolutely devastated and shocked to be writing this post. 4HER will be closed until further notice … This is not the end, I will be back, so watch this space.”
Hundreds of people from the Narooma community responded with comments of support.
