Emergency services are at the scene of a light plane crash near Braidwood, where a man has lost his life.
The plane came down just after 11 am this morning near the Nerriga Bridge, northeast of Braidwood and east of Lake George.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has told Region Media that the two-seater plane was an XL-2 Liberty aircraft, and crashed about 3.5 nautical miles northeast of Braidwood.
The pilot was the only person on board, he was found deceased by first responders.
The plane is registered to a company at Camden, south-west of Sydney, its take-off location is unknown at this stage.
“The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has confirmed they will be conducting an on-scene investigation,” the CASA spokesperson says.
The cause of the crash is unknown but it is believed the pilot was attempting to land his aircraft.
The Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, Police and NSW Ambulance are currently at the scene.
An RFS spokesperson says there is no fire or spills to contain.
