There’s plenty to do in the regions this weekend, especially if you love live music, theatre, dancing or markets.

Running across the whole weekend, in Goulburn, there are two pro wrestling fight nights and The Lieder Theatre Company is putting on performances of Romeo and Juliet.

On Friday the Edward Road Market Place hits Batehaven.

This Saturday, the Hive in Queanbeyan is having a Hive and Seek Market, the award-winning Darren Coggan will perform The Poems, Prayers and Promises of John Denver at Bicentennial Hall and Ethan Parlato will be performing at Moruya Riverside Park.

Sunday brings four hours of live country music courtesy of the Goulburn Country Music Association and the Batemans Bay Sunday Market to end the week.

Next week on Wednesday, people aged 50 and over will be invited to Dance it Up in Batemans Bay.

This Friday and Saturday night the Slam Pro Wrestling League returns with two back-to-back fight nights to start your weekend entertainment off. Previous events have sold out months in advance, so get your tickets quick to avoid disappointment. All tickets are allocated seating, with no standing tickets. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Romeo & Juliet

When: Saturday 4 June, 7:30 pm – 10 pm and Sunday 5 June, 2 pm – 4:30 pm
Where: Lieder Theatre main auditorium, 52 Goldsmith St, Goulburn

This weekend, Shakespeare’s tale of the tragic star-crossed lovers comes to life at The Lieder Theatre. Directed by Ryan Paranthoiene, you won’t want to miss this production of one of the great bard’s most famous plays.

Edward Road Market Place

Cost: Free entry.

The Edward Road Market Place brings together a diverse range of locally-grown produce, baked goods, plants, art, fresh flowers, quality handmade items and more. The coffee and tacos are a highlight and local buskers will provide the tunes.

Hive and Seek Market

When: Saturday 4 June, 10 am – 3 pm
Where: The Queanbeyan Hive, 274 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan
Cost: Free entry.

Queanbeyan Hive’s monthly Hive & Seek Market is held on the fourth Saturday of every month and is back this weekend. The intimate market outside the heritage cottage will showcase quality vintage, hand-made and crafted treasures and more, as well as live music.

Visitors can enjoy a coffee or tea in the lovely gardens, wander through the gallery, browse some local stalls and pick up some “backyard bbq” from Create Collaborate Collective Inc. If you’re interested in having your own stall, register online. Anyone who wishes to contribute to the day with live music, children’s activities or bee-themed ideas is asked to message event organisers on Facebook.

The Poems, Prayers & Promises of John Denver

Multi-award-winning performer Darren Coggan is returning to his country roots in his new show The Poems, Prayers & Promises of John Denver. Coggan invites audiences to celebrate one of the most inspiring singer-songwriters of all time.

Ethan Parlato is an independent singer-songwriter and natural-born storyteller from the South Coast. He is inspired by blues and country artists such as John Mayer, Keith Urban and Garth Brooks and loves to bring a personal touch to his original songs, telling stories of his life and those around him. Ethan has also played at many local venues such as the Tilba Valley Winery, Batemans Bay Soldiers Club and Moruya Waterfront.

Goulburn Country Music Association

On the first Sunday of each month, the Goulburn Workers Club hosts four hours of non-stop old and new live country music, popular soft rock and easy listening music. There is something for everyone and a large dance floor. Audiences can relax at the McKell Sports Bar and Lounge or, if you play an instrument, sing or have any other musical abilities, enquire about joining the association.

Batemans Bay Sunday Market

When: Sunday 5 June, 9 am – 1 pm
Where: Corrigans Beach Reserve, Beach Road, Batehaven
Cost: Free entry.

Held on the first and third Sunday of each month on Corrigan’s Beach Reserve in beautiful Batemans Bay, the Sunday Market is the perfect place for a leisurely wander. Facilitated by Marine Rescue Batemans Bay and Rotary Batemans Bay, browse more than 60 stalls selling food, collectables, clothing, plants, gifts, second-hand wares and more. Live music and great coffee rounds of the market experience.

Dance it Up 50+ mood-boosting dance class

Dance it Up is a mood-boosting dance class for people aged 50 and over in Batemans Bay. Held weekly, this fun class will introduce participants to multiple dance styles from ballet to Bollywood. Move expressively and dynamically to uplifting music and improve your overall fitness, coordination, flexibility, balance and strength.
