A Moruya man is to face court today charged over his alleged possession of two shortened firearms.
The 31-year-old was stopped by police in Tallyang St, Bomaderry, early on Thursday morning after a tip-off to police.
He was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with three outstanding warrants, driving while disqualified, stating a false name, possessing house breaking implements, possessing a prohibited drug, larceny, possessing shortened firearms and goods in custody.
He was refused bail and is due to face Nowra Local Court today (21 August 2020).
A short time later, with help from the South East Region Enforcement Squad, a Firearms Prohibition Order and Weapons Prohibition Order was executed at a home on Bunberra Street, Bomaderry.
Officers allegedly found and seized two shortened firearms, a shortened rifle concealed within a cavity behind a mirror, an electronic stun device, and goods believed to be stolen, including a motorbike, power tools and generator.
The 31-year-old male occupant – who was the subject of a Firearms and Weapons Prohibition Order – was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with possessing a shortened firearm, firearm found at premises subject to prohibition order, goods in custody and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was also refused bail and is due to face the Nowra court today.
