More attention for Bombala’s sewer network this week with Snowy Monaro Regional Council engaging GHD Pty Ltd as the design consultant for the replacement of a major sewage pumping station in the town.
This contract involves both an options study and detailed design of the sewerage network in Bombala, including the Timor Street pumping station and associated network upgrades.
As part of the process, investigative geotechnical test pits and boreholes need to be excavated to confirm the suitability of the substrate where the new pump stations and pipework might be constructed.
Councils says, “These pits and boreholes are typically of small diameter, less than 300 mm, and will be reinstated immediately after the drilling/excavation.”
The geotechnical team from GHD will carry out the works this week and are expected to complete the task on Friday – August 9, with minimal to nil disruption to residents. All works are within road reserves and Council land.
A traffic control plan will be in place when the work is being undertaken, however, Council is advising residents to be aware and drive safely around any workers operating next to the road over the coming days.
This week’s activity follows smoke testing of the sewer network in July looking for stormwater leaks and connections.
Enquires can be directed to Council’s Capital Works Engineer – Water and Wastewater, John Booker on 1300 345 345.
