Kids looking for something to do these school holidays?
Want to get them away from screens?
The annual Eurobodalla Mayor’s Writing Competition is here and offering the shire’s young wordsmiths an opportunity to grow their talent.
With less than two weeks until entries close, Mayor Liz Innes is encouraging budding writers aged five to 18 years who live or go to school in the Eurobodalla to get involved.
“For the past eleven years, the Mayor’s Writing Competition has encouraged and celebrated the literary talents of our young people,” Cr Innes says.
“Entries can be in any style – including short stories, poems or essays and should be creative and unique.
“The only limitation for subject matter is that the word ‘seed’ must appear in the text at least once.”
Entries close at 5 pm on Friday, May 3 with winners announced by the Mayor at the Council Chambers in Moruya on Thursday, July 25.
Winners in each section receive a $50 book voucher while runners-up receive a $30 book voucher.
Finalists in each category receive a copy of the Mayor’s Writing Competition Anthology 2019, which will include their work.
