Man dies after three-vehicle crash near Bega

A three-vehicle crash involving a truck on the NSW Far South Coast has resulted in a man’s death and closed a major highway to all traffic.

Police received reports that a ute, a car and a truck collided on the Princes Highway at Frogs Hollow, which is about 13 km south of Bega, after 11 am on Thursday (7 August).

The male driver of the ute was treated by paramedics, but sadly died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The male truck driver was not injured and was taken to Bega Hospital for mandatory testing.

“Officers attached to South Coast Police District have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

“A report will be prepared for the coroner.”

According to Live Traffic NSW, the Princes Highway remained closed between Candelo-Bega Road and Wanatta Lane as of 4 pm on Thursday.

Diversions are in place:

  • Light vehicles – Wanatta Lane, Candelo-Wolumla Road, William Street, Candelo-Bega Road. Suitable for both directions.
  • Heavy vehicles 19m/50t and under – Princes Highway, Snowy Mountains Highway, Mogilla Road, Candelo-Wolumla Road. Suitable for both directions.
