A set of public toilets in Jindabyne will be closed each night as Snowy Monaro Regional Council moves to limit the impacts of graffiti and vandalism in the Snowy Mountains.
Council says it has been working closely with Jindabyne Police over the past few months to address the issue but it seems no other options are available.

While it appears all of the town’s public toilets have been targets, the facilities at Banjo Paterson Park have been damaged more regularly and will be will be closed each evening between 9 pm and 6 am as a trial.
According to Council, police will continue to do regular patrols throughout the trial period.
“We encourage anyone with any information on these acts of vandalism to contact Jindabyne Police to assist with their investigation,” a spokesperson says.
People have expressed their disappointment on Council’s Facebook page.
Jane Bowden Green writes, “Oh that’s terrible. Our little town is growing and this is an unfortunate consequence. Hopefully the police will be able to apprehend the culprits.”
Fiona Elizabeth Izon Avery says, “Why close them over summer, now the winter tourists have gone. Clean up, leave them open and see if it’s locals or winter tourists who are the problem.”
Nora Buckley writes, “What is wrong with people? Put a webcam up and catch them.”
Signage will be placed at the toilets in Banjo Paterson Park directing those needing a loo between 9 pm and 6 am to go across the road to the Jindabyne Town Centre.
