Tribe Breweries’ purpose-built brewery in Goulburn will get a hefty 50 per cent discount on its developer charges for 2019-2020 water and sewerage after exceeding local employment requirements put in place by Goulburn Mulwaree Council in 2018.
Tribe has a staff of 46 full-time and five part-time local employees, far surpassing council’s requirement of an increase of 10 full-time staff.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor Bob Kirk said this is a brilliant result for the region and that it shows the value of council supporting large businesses where possible.
“Applying a discount to developer charges is not a decision council takes lightly, which is why we insisted on the employment condition to show how Tribe Breweries has positively impacted our community and economy,” he said.
“It’s been wonderful to see how Tribe Breweries has grown during the past 18 months and gone from strength to strength. It is developing into a great business which will hopefully be a strong supporter of our community for years to come.”
In the past financial year, Tribe Breweries used 99 megalitres of water and 59 megalitres of sewer.
The Equivalent Tenements (ET) based on this usage is 430 for water and 422 for sewer. An ET is a measure of the load a property places on the water and sewer system; one ET is considered equal to one residential household. Therefore, council estimates Tribe Breweries is equivalent to 430 residential households.
It will be charged $1,793,375 for Section 64 developer charges based on its water and sewer usage during the 2019-2020 financial year, which is a discount of 50 per cent.
