Bayldon Ag’s first field day will be held at the Queanbeyan Showground on Friday, 9 October and Saturday, 10 October, with Bell’s Amusement’s Sideshow on hand to entertain the kids.
With the onset of COVID-19, there hasn’t been a field day yet in 2020, and the Bayldon Ag team is determined to hold a COVID-19-safe event, with plenty of hand sanitiser and a COVID-19 plan in place.

Bayldon Ag managing director Paul Nicholl said all the machinery in the shop will be on display at the Field Day, with demonstrations of working machinery, including their new range premium Rover equipment sold under the high-end Cub Cadet brand, and the new range of Polaris side-by-side vehicles.
The side-by-sides are replacing quad bikes after the introduction of the ACCC’s Consumer Goods (Quad Bikes) Safety Standard 2019.
The event will be a welcome change for locals, providing entertainment for children of all ages, and information, products and servicing for equipment.
“There hasn’t been a field day yet this year,” said Mr Nicholl. “The Murrumbateman Field Day was cancelled because of COVID-19, so we thought we’d hold one at Queanbeyan, and encourage people to come and have a look.”
“There will be plenty to see and do,” he said, “and the kids can go over to Bell’s in a COVID-19-safe environment and have some fun while mum and dad have a look at the equipment we’ve got on hand.
“We’ll all be at the field day, the shop will only be open for parts and service, as all the equipment will be at the field day,” said Mr Nicholl.
“We’ll have an entire shop full of mowers and chainsaws, trimmers and tools on display at the field day. We’re moving the entire stock of the shop down to the Queanbeyan Showground!”
The range of electric Bushranger equipment will be on display.
There will also be a range of electric Bushranger equipment and one of the world’s most sophisticated European tractor brands, Duetz-Fahr, on display. The Duetz-Fahr range includes auto-steer tractors, guided by GPS with a clutch-free mode which helps farmers know where they have been, and guides the machinery to where it needs to go.
“We’ve got Bell’s providing entertainment for the kids with all the sideshow alley entertainment they’ve missed so far this year. They’ve had a pretty lean year so far, without shows and field days, and we’re glad to be able to partner with them for the event,” said Mr Nicholl.
Formed in 1924, Bells Amusements is a local family-owned company, based in Queanbeyan, which provide rides and entertainment for events such as the Queanbeyan Show.
Bayldon Ag is well known in the community for supporting local charities including Lifeline, Menslink and sponsoring the Canberra Cavalry. Cav’s mascot Sarge – with his own corflutes – will also be at the field day in his own Polaris side-by-side.

The range on display will include the newest equipment from Polaris, Kioti, Toro, Deutz-Fahr, Kohler, GreenMech, Massey-Ferguson and Silvan. The range includes mowers, sprayers, stump grinders, tools, chainsaws, ride-on mowers, a fully electric range from Bushranger, and more unusual products such as the Rover Zero Turn Mowers and the electric cylinder mower.
“It’s been a tough year for everyone,” said Mr Nicholl, “and we were a bit worried ourselves earlier in the year. But work still needs to be done on farms, and we are focussed on ensuring equipment doesn’t mean downtime for our farmers, particularly in spring.”
The Bayldon Ag Field Day will be held this weekend, Saturday 9 October and Sunday 10 October, at the Queanbeyan Showgrounds between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Entry is free. For more information, visit Bayldon Ag on Facebook.
