An arrest has been made after counterfeit cash was allegedly used at several businesses across the NSW Far South Coast.
NSW Police allege counterfeit $50 and $100 notes were used at businesses in Eden, Pambula and Merimbula this summer.
They were alerted after fake $50 dollar notes were allegedly handed to businesses at Merimbula and Eden on New Year’s Day (1 January 2025) and began an investigation.
Following their inquiries, they arrested a 27-year-old man in Merimbula Drive, Merimbula on Wednesday (8 January).
When he was searched, officers allegedly found and seized a number of small resealable bags containing drugs.
Officers also searched a car and allegedly found more drugs and a knuckle duster.
The man was charged with two counts of possessing a false document to obtain a financial advantage, as well as possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was granted bail to appear at Bega Local Court on 11 February.
Police said the alleged counterfeit cash was seized.
