Allegations of $150,000 fraud result in woman arrested in Yass

A Yass resident has been accused of defrauding a woman of $150,000 in southern NSW.

NSW Police began an investigation after receiving reports that the woman had allegedly been defrauded between January and March 2023.

On Tuesday (4 April), officers arrested a 35-year-old woman at a home on Shantalla Crescent, Yass.

Police also conducted a search, in which it is alleged they seized a mobile phone, documents – including bank statements – and items allegedly bought with the stolen money.

The Yass woman was charged with three counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception as well as single counts of dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.

She was granted conditional bail to appear in Yass Local Court on 12 May.

“Police will allege in court that more than 120 fraudulent transactions were made, totalling more than $150,000,” NSW Police said.
