Accused stabber refused bail after alleged attack in Queanbeyan

A man has been refused bail after an alleged stabbing on the weekend resulted in a person being taken to hospital.

NSW Police said emergency services were called to a home on Donald Road in Queanbeyan at about 5 pm on Sunday (1 September) over reports of the alleged attack.

A 38-year-old man had allegedly been stabbed by another man, who fled before police arrived.

Paramedics treated the alleged victim at the scene before he was taken to Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Following an investigation, Daniel Tomkins was arrested over the alleged incident at the Queanbeyan Police Station on Tuesday (3 September).

He was charged with entering a dwelling with intent to inflict actual bodily harm and wounding a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 42-year-old from the Queanbeyan region appeared in the Cooma Local Court on Wednesday (4 September) where he was refused bail and the matter was adjourned to 4 November.
