Job seekers and employers are set to mingle at a job fair with a twist.
Eurobdalla Shire Council’s employment projects officer, Amy Kovacs, said people could “think of it as ‘speed hiring'”.
“Instead of the usual drawn-out application process, job seekers can make an impression with potential employers and apply for positions on the spot,” she said.
An initiative of Eurobodalla Council’s Employment Revolution project, the jobs drive will bring together 19 employers from the health and community services sector.
The positions range from aged care and hospitality to home care, housekeeping, entry-level domestic care assistance and support work.
Ms Kovacs said the event would demystify the application process for job seekers.
“Applying for health sector jobs can be daunting,” she said.
“The jobs drive will help remove barriers for those who feel unqualified or intimidated.”
According to the council’s website, the job vacancies are located in Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay.
Ms Kovacs described the jobs drive as a big win for local businesses, who can chat with their potential employees on the day.
“We want to help simplify and speed up the recruitment process. Employers with vacancies get to meet applicants directly and see if they’re the right fit,” she said.
“Whether you’re seeking part-time, casual, full-time, entry-level, or specialised work, come along – qualifications aren’t required.”
The jobs drive will be held at the Moruya Memorial RSL Hall, 11 Page Street, Moruya on 25 March (Tuesday).
The session will be held from 10 am to noon.
