Police are calling for the public’s help as they investigate two suspicious house fires at the same home at Queanbeyan last year.

While the fire that was started in the first incident was extinguished, the second fire caused major damage to the building.

There are hopes that a newly-released CCTV image will help provide investigators with information.

NSW Police said emergency services were called to the first fire at the home in Jordan Place at around 6:30 pm on 31 August 2024.

“Fire and Rescue NSW officers responded and extinguished the blaze, which caused minor damage,” a police spokesperson said.

Police began an investigation into this fire. But emergency services were then called to another fire at the same home several weeks later, at about 12:50 am on 17 September.

“Fire and Rescue NSW officers responded and extinguished the fire, which caused significant damage,” the police spokesperson said.

Police established Strike Force Wildensee to investigate the two fires, which they believe are linked.

On Friday (10 January 2025), they released a CCTV image of a grey Hyundai Santa Fe with roof racks that was seen near the August fire.

“Officers believe the vehicle and a man seen in the vicinity at the time may be able to assist with inquiries,” the spokesperson said.
