Woman dies and passenger airlifted to hospital following crash near Bega

A woman has died in a two-vehicle accident on the Far South Coast that also resulted in her passenger being airlifted to hospital.

A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were called at about 1 pm on Sunday (14 October) after reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

The incident occurred at Old Mill Road in Wolumla, about 20 km south of Bega.

The motorcycle’s rider, a 34-year-old woman, died at the scene.

The pillion passenger, a six-year-old boy, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.

He was then airlifted to a Sydney Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the car, a 28-year-old woman, was treated for shock before being taken to South East Regional Hospital in Bega for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to the South Coast Police District established a crime scene and have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As they investigate, police ask that anyone with information or dashcam footage relating to the incident contact Crime Stoppers.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
