Thieves have targeted homes and vehicles in several break and enters in Bega.
South Coast Police said the incidents occurred on Glen Mia Drive, Bridle Place and Belmore Street between Saturday night (14 May) and early Monday morning (16 May).
“In one location, access was gained through an unlocked garage door attached to the main dwelling while the homeowners were asleep,” police said.
“An attempt was made to force open a roller door in another property in Belmore Street while the occupant was asleep.”
A display sword, white Toyota Hilux ute, grey-coloured Scott mountain bike and red-coloured Trek mountain bike were stolen, with a laptop and coins also taken from a Nissan X-trail.
The white Toyota Hilux was later recovered.

Police advised there were several ways for people to secure their homes and vehicles:
- Fit quality security doors, windows, locks, alarms, lighting and warning signs
- Secure all windows and doors
- Activate your alarm, smoke detectors and security lighting
- Consider installing CCTV cameras that allow remote view
- Lock your gates, sheds and garages
- Secure your valuables inside your homes, including car keys
- Do not leave any valuables in your vehicle when unattended
