A man has been arrested and refused bail after allegedly breaking into several businesses in Bega on the NSW South Coast this month.
Police allege the man first smashed a window and stole several items from Bega Post Office at around 11:45 pm on Monday, 9 November.
Staff at the post office reported the break-and-enter to police and officers from the South Coast Police District launched an investigation.
Police discovered during their inquiries that two more businesses in the centre of Bega had been broken into.
At around 1:45 pm on Wednesday, 11 November, a window was smashed at Dan Murphy’s liquor store on Auckland Street in Bega.
Police found the 32-year-old man hiding behind a wall when they arrived at the store.
The man was arrested and taken to Bega Police Station, where he was charged with break, enter and steal, and three counts of break-and-enter.
Police will allege the man committed and attempted to commit numerous break-and-enters in the centre of Bega during a three-day period.
He was refused bail and will appear in Bega Local Court.
