A woman was threatened with a knife during a robbery at a shop in Bungendore yesterday.

The robbery occurred just after 5:00 pm when a man walked into the shop on Gibraltar Street, Bungendore and threatened a 75-year-old female employee with a knife.

After a short struggle with the woman, the man grabbed the cash register and ran from the store before driving away in a utility. The woman was not injured.

Officers from Monaro Police District attended the store, established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

A short time later, the vehicle was seen on the Kings Highway at Queanbeyan and a pursuit was initiated.

Police terminated the pursuit and the vehicle was last seen driving into the ACT.

The vehicle is described as a silver single-cab 4WD utility with a black metal tray, allegedly with stolen New South Wales registration plates CU-41-CL.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses in the area at the time, including motorists who were travelling on the Kings Highway towards Queanbeyan about 5:20 pm and may have dashcam footage.

If you have information, contact Bungendore Police Station on 02 6238 1244.
