Lieder Theatre Company Presents: Letters to Lindy

When: 12 to 18 June
Where: Lieder Theatre, 52 Goldsmith Street, Goulburn
Cost: Tickets from $20 to $35 | Book online.

Goulburn’s own Lieder Theatre Company presents Letters to Lindy, a verbatim play informed by the letters sent to Lindy Chamberlain-Chreighton after the tragic death of her daughter.

When Lindy’s daughter disappeared in the outback, her story became a media sensation, with the story unfolding under the full glare of the national media.

This performance focuses on the emotional toll on the grieving mother after her daughter went missing by using real correspondence sent to her to illustrate the opinions of the public and how they easily shifted.

An exploration of media, publicity and the pitfalls of trial-by-media, the story of Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton is a story that still has relevance today.

On Thursday 18 June at 7 pm there will be a special audience Q&A with Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton. Tickets for this special event are available online.

Also at the Lieder Theatre Company will be a showing of Some Like it Hot on 14 June at 4 pm.

When: 12 to 18 June, during normal gallery hours
Where: Rusten House Art Centre, 87 Collett Street, Queanbeyan

Photographer Leigh Penton explores nostalgia through images that don’t document the past, but remember it, with all the imperfections, fuzziness and fragmentation that characterise human memory.

Using muted hues, subtle textures and banal subject matter, Penton presents everyday scenes, familiar to most of us, overlaid with subjective emotion.

Reflecting on recollection, truth and the inherent difficulty of subjective memory, this exhibition is a fascinating exploration of its subject matter.
