The State Government has confirmed what most of us already knew in our hearts – people in the Eurobodalla, Goulburn-Mulwaree, Wingecarribee and Queanbeyan-Palerang local government areas will be under lockdown orders until restrictions start to lift on 11 October.

Stay-at-home orders will be lifted, as scheduled, from tomorrow, Friday 1 October, for Hilltops, Mid-Western Regional, and Walgett LGAs.

But due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health risk, stay-at-home orders will be extended for Bathurst Regional, Bourke, Central Coast, City of Cessnock, Dubbo Regional, Eurobodalla, Goulburn Mulwaree, Kiama, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Lithgow, City of Maitland, City of Newcastle, Port Stephens, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional, City of Shellharbour, City of Shoalhaven, and Wingecarribee LGAs.

Due to recent transmission of COVID-19, stay-at-home orders will be introduced for the Snowy Monaro LGA from 3 pm today (30 September) for seven days. These stay-at-home orders also apply to anyone who has been to the Snowy Monaro LGA since 22 September.

The news comes as southern NSW records another 26 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8 pm yesterday.

Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has been notified of:

  • 14 new cases in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region – just three are linked to known cases;
  • Three new cases in Goulburn – one linked to a known case;
  • Five new cases in the Snowy Monaro region – three linked to known cases;
  • Four new cases in the Batemans Bay region, three of which are linked.

This brings the total cases in SNSWLHD to 176 since the start of the current outbreak in June.

There has been just one new confirmed case of COVID-19 reported in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to 8 o’clock last night. The case is a resident of the Hilltops Local Government Area and is a household contact of a previously reported case.

This new case bring the total number of cases in Hilltops LGA to 19.

Virus fragments have again been detected in Moruya and Thredbo, increasing the risk of undetected cases there.

A spokesperson said NSW Health would continue to closely monitor the evolving situation with COVID-19 and would not hesitate to update its advice to protect the health and wellbeing of the people of NSW.

“We urge people throughout NSW to continue to come forward for testing at the first sign of even mild symptoms. High vaccination rates are also essential to reduce the risk of transmission and protect the health and safety of the community.”

NSW recorded 941 cases and six deaths to 8 pm yesterday. Of those eligible in NSW, 86.7 per cent people have now had one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 62.9 per cent are double-dosed.
