A man has admitted murdering another at Cooma just over two years ago.

In late April 2023, Samuel Albert Campbell pleaded guilty to murdering 38-year-old Nicholas Robertson in an attack on 15 February 2021.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over an assault on a 19-year-old man on the same day.

He originally contested his charges and a trial had been scheduled to begin this month.

The 23-year-old will now face a NSW Supreme Court sentencing hearing on 10 July.

NSW Police originally said they had been called to Cooma Hospital at about 4 am that day in February after two men arrived suffering from stab wounds.

Mr Robertson, who had stab wounds to his abdomen, neck and chest, died on arrival.

The 19-year-old had wounds to his arms and was taken to Canberra Hospital, where he remained in a stable condition.

Campbell, then 21, was arrested shortly afterwards in bushland on Shannons Flat Road, Cooma.
