An online survey canvassing the future look, feel, and management of Hanging Rock, Corrigans Beach and Observation Point reserves near Batemans Bay closes next Monday – September 30.
Eurobodalla Shire Council is currently developing a Plan of Management and Landscape Master Plan that will guide how these sites can be developed and should be managed for the coming ten years.
The aim is to map current and future infrastructure, facilities and landscaping to guide site improvements covering:
- Hanging Rock sporting fields and facilities including the tennis courts, sailing club, remote control car club plus foreshore, recreation and car parking areas adjacent to the Batemans Bay boat ramp and Marine Rescue
- Corrigans Beach recreation areas including the Variety Inclusive Playground, and foreshore, parkland and open space areas
- Observation Point including view areas and walking trails and parking
- Operational land that hosts Batemans Bay Library, University of Wollongong campus, TAFE Illawarra and Batemans Bay skatepark.
Council’s Recreation Planner Steve Picton says the online survey is another opportunity for the wider community to share their thoughts on current issues and future opportunities in the area.
“Council staff and planning consultants have met with 22 stakeholder groups to date,” Mr Picton says.
“The four-hour community drop-in session was also well attended, with residents from Observation Avenue keen for upgraded infrastructure at Observation Point that maximises viewing options while preserving environmental and cultural values.”

Mr Picton says on top of the online survey Council has placed hard copies at Batemans Bay Library, and would further engage with property owners of Observation Avenue and business owners in Batehaven.
